Remember John Lennon’s life and music with Kinoma Play

December 9th, 2010

30 years ago yesterday, we lost a great artist.

Today, you can use Kinoma Play to celebrate John Lennon’s life and music.

The celebration starts at Music > Artists > John Lennon. We’ve got a selection of videos from his solo career, a collection of (posthumous) 70th birthday tributes from people the world over — even the unforgettable, mid-football-game announcement where a lot of folks in the U.S. first heard of his death.

If you’re more of a radio person, search Live365 and SHOUTcast for “lennon” and “beatles” to find and play stations that feature John Lennon. While you’re listening, you can search Last.fm artists to learn more about the man and his music, and even browse some great photos of John over the years.

If you’d like to send your own tribute out into the world, you can even use Kinoma Play to post the typographical version of John Lennon ((°J°)) to your Facebook or Twitter accounts in his memory.

If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the sixties, that’s his problem. Love and peace are eternal. — John Lennon

(Way) Up, up and away with NASA and Kinoma Play

September 23rd, 2010

NASA. Those four letters represent a good chunk of my childhood escapist fantasies. If there’s anybody who didn’t want to be an astronaut at some point in their lives, I haven’t met them yet!

Have you checked out NASA in Kinoma Guide yet? If you’re a fan of NASA or space travel in general, it’s a great, fun resource that you simply must check out.

The NASA category features several live video streams, including a live feed from the International Space Station. When there’s a mission underway, you can even tune into live mission audio!

Additionally, this category puts all known NASA podcasts in one convenient place. Whether you’re interested in the latest NASA news, want to relive NASA’s glory days with the folks who were there, or just want to learn more about space and space travel, this excellent collection of podcasts delivers.

Cool, what’s new?

Photos! We find ourselves continually amazed by the photos that NASA’s behind, and today we’ve got two new photostreams for you to enjoy.

  • The Hubble Heritage Project — This is a photostream of extraordinary photos from the Hubble Telescope. HHP was founded by a groups of astronomers in 1998, and every month they publish best-of-the-best pictures of celestial objects like planets, stars, galaxies and galaxy clusters. These are considered some of the most aesthetically-pleasing images ever produced in astronomy.
  • NASA Photostream — This is NASA’s official photostream. It’s a fascinating behind-the-scenes into the agency, and every month you can find several new photos that shed light on past, present and even the future of NASA.

Enjoy!

You can find NASA in Kinoma Guide > Governments & Organizations, and the new photostreams in NASA > Photos.

If you have favorite podcasts, radio stations, video streams or other media, send a URL and short description to content@kinoma.com and we’ll add them to Kinoma Guide for everyone to discover and enjoy.
