Two ways to send a direct message with Twitter for Kinoma Play

If you’re one of the many fans of Kinoma Play’s Twitter app, you know that you can publicly reply and retweet (“forward” a tweet to the people following you) tweets with a touch — easy!

In addition to public replies, you can send followers private tweets called “direct messages”. Since our support team gets the occasional question about how to do this, I’m going to show you two ways to do it.

The “normal” way

Normally, you send direct messages via a Twitter user’s profile, which you can jump to instantly from any of their tweets.

If they’re a follower you’ll see a Send Direct Message command, which you just touch to enter and send your message.

The shortcut

Alternatively, you can easily change a reply into a direct message. Touch Reply from a tweet, then replace the “@” with a “d” followed by a space, as shows here:

Remember, you can only send direct messages to a Twitter users who follow you. We recommend the first method, since it automagically checks the Twitter user to make sure they’re a follower before displaying the Send Direct Message command.
