Kinoma Notes

A delicious way to create Kinoma Player feeds

Kinoma Player — more than any other mobile media player for any platform — is all about standards.

One of the great things about standards is that, like Lego bricks, you can snap together things that “speak” the same standards even if those things weren’t specifically created for each other.

For example, Delicious (currently undergoing a name change from “de.licio.us”) is Yahoo!‘s social bookmarking site. It’s super-popular, with around 3 million registered users and 100 million unique bookmarked URLs.

Kinoma Player and Delicious both speak RSS, the most popular format for text and media feeds. Because of that, we can use Delicious to easily create audio feeds for Kinoma Player! Here’s how…

First, register for Delicious if you’re not already a member. It took me only a couple minutes to register, get my confirmation email, and then confirm my registration.

Then, bookmark some audio URLs for your personal Kinoma Player feed.

Finally, bookmark this URL in Kinoma Player (replacing username with your Delicious username):

http://delicious.com/rss/username/system:media:audio

Voila! Now you have your very own Kinoma Player audio feed that you can use yourself and also share with others. Best of all, your new feed will automatically update as you add more audio links.
