Listen to Bloomberg Radio with Kinoma Player
Bloomberg Radio is an excellent source of economic, business and market news.
Unfortunately the only stream available is encoded using the archaic Windows Media Voice codec instead of Windows Media Audio, which prevents us from listening to it directly with Kinoma Player.
This week I was able to make it work. Here’s how:
- Create an Orb account, then download and install Orb
- Go to my.orb.com and login to your account
- Click on Open Application (in the upper-left corner) and choose Audio
- In the iTunes-like panel on the left, click on Favorite Channels (under Internet Radio)
- Click Add Custom (to the right of the Open Application menu)

- In Name type Bloomberg Radio, in Path type mms://media2.bloomberg.com/wbbr_sirus.asf, then click Submit
That’s it! Your PC will now act as a relay for Bloomberg Radio, transcoding the audio to a modern audio format in realtime.
Now to listen to Bloomberg Radio with Kinoma Player:
- Use Web (Blazer) to go to my.orb.com and login to your account
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click 40 to set your streaming bitrate to 40 Kbps
- Click Bloomberg Radio to start listening
Once you’ve tested it, use Orb’s Settings page to “Use fixed speed” so you won’t have to pick your streaming speed every time.
