How to get the “secret” upgrade discount
In my previous post, I mentioned a little-known upgrade discount available for Kinoma Player 4 EX for people who have a phone with Kinoma Media Embedded (i.e. a Palm Treo 680, 700p or 755p, or a Palm Centro). Here’s how to get it…
First, soft-reset your phone. This will make Kinoma Media Embedded display an About box that includes a discount link (which works only from your phone) the next time it’s launched.
Then use Web (Blazer) to go to http://m.youtube.com/ and play any video. Web will launch Kinoma Media Embedded to play the video, but before the video starts this About box will appear for only about 3 seconds:
Finally, click on the upgrade link just under the version number (which I’ve obfuscated in the image above).
You’ll be taken to a mobile shopping cart that lets you purchase, download, install and activate Kinoma Player 4 EX all on your device, all in about 5 minutes.
